Unauthenticated account takeover via ignored nonce failure
Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Jan 23, 2026
Authentication bypass in Really Simple Security plugins 9.0.0 through 9.1.1.1 allows remote attackers to access any site account. The skip_onboarding REST action ignores the error returned when check_login_and_get_user rejects an invalid login nonce and still authenticates the supplied user ID. Two-Factor Authentication must be enabled, a non-default setting; successful exploitation grants the chosen account's privileges, including administrator access.
