Authenticated stored XSS via unsanitized SVG uploads
Published Nov 12, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Admin and Site Enhancements (ASE) 7.5.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via SVG uploads. The SVG Upload module inadequately sanitizes uploaded SVG content and serves it without sufficient output escaping, causing embedded script to execute when the file is opened. Exploitation requires the feature to be enabled for the attacker's role and another user to access the uploaded SVG file.
