Administrator access via unchecked initial site registration
Published Dec 13, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in MainWP Child 5.3.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to gain administrator access through site registration. The register_site function accepts an initial Dashboard connection without adequately verifying its password, allowing attacker-supplied connection data to establish an administrative session. Exposure is limited to Child sites that remain unconnected to a MainWP Dashboard and do not require a Unique Security ID; connected sites are not affected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
