Local data disclosure via embedded Realm key
Published Nov 4, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2024
Use of a default cryptographic key in COSMOTE WHAT'S UP 4.47.3 for Android allows local users to decrypt the app's Realm database. RealmDB.java embeds defaultRealmKey in the APK and converts it to bytes to encrypt defaultKMMV4.realm.enc, so package extraction reveals the database key. Exploitation requires access to the APK plus the app database or a backup and exposes stored personal and payment data without enabling modification or service interruption.
