Privilege escalation via nonce-less settings update
Published Nov 5, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in REPORTiT 1.5.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to update arbitrary WordPress options. The settings update path in class/setting_report.php accepts an administrator's forged request without correctly validating a WordPress nonce before writing supplied option values. Exploitation requires an authenticated site administrator to follow an attacker-controlled link, and the resulting option changes can support privilege escalation.
