Script execution via unescaped tab parameter
Published Nov 12, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Reflected XSS in Business Essentials for Contact Form 7 1.0.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject scripts via the tab parameter. The plugin reads the tab query parameter to select a settings tab and returns it to the generated page without sufficient sanitization or output escaping. Exploitation requires an unauthenticated attacker to lure a user into opening a crafted link, after which the script runs in the user’s browser under the affected site’s origin.
