Subscriber-level plugin installation via unchecked AJAX callback
Published Nov 9, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in ThemeHunk TH Shop Mania 1.4.9 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to install and activate arbitrary plugins. The th_shop_mania_install_and_activate_callback() AJAX handler performs plugin installation and activation without checking the caller’s WordPress capabilities. Subscriber-level access is sufficient; installed plugins can expose additional flaws that enable code execution or privilege escalation.
