Authenticated database modification via missing capability check
Published Dec 4, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in codeSavory BasePress Docs 2.16.3.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to modify database records. The basepress_db_posts_update() function accepts an update request and writes it to the database without checking the caller's WordPress capability. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and the public record does not further identify which database records or values can be changed.
