Stored XSS via unescaped custom_css shortcode attribute
Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in Pronto Tools WooCommerce Cart Count Shortcode before 1.1.0 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts. The cart_button handler concatenates the custom_css shortcode attribute into the rendered link's class attribute without validation or output escaping, allowing an event handler to enter the markup. Contributor-level access is sufficient to store the shortcode in a post, and another user's hover over the rendered cart link executes the payload.
