Stored XSS via unescaped icon URL

Published Dec 6, 2024 · Updated Dec 6, 2024

Stored XSS in Sanil Shakya Sticky Social Icons 1.2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via a saved icon URL. The plugin saves the Selected Icons Icon parameter without sanitizing or escaping its URL value, causing an event-handler payload to render as executable markup. Administrator privileges and victim interaction with the rendered icon are required; exploitation remains possible when unfiltered_html is disabled, including on multisite installations.
