Service interruption via unescaped partition regex
Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Mar 20, 2025
Regular expression denial of service in H2O.ai H2O-3 3.46.0.1 allows remote attackers to make the server unresponsive via ParseSetup requests. ParseSetupHandler concatenates each untrusted partition_by value into a Java Pattern and matches it against an attacker-named frame path without escaping or complexity limits. No authentication or user interaction is required; concurrent requests can exhaust request-processing threads and interrupt every API and the web interface.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
