Code execution via unchecked BuildFontMap input
Published Dec 10, 2024 · Updated Dec 10, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in LabVIEW 2024 Q3 and earlier allows local users to execute code or disclose data through a crafted VI file. BuildFontMap in fontmgr.cpp fails to validate an input index or offset before reading font-map data beyond the intended buffer. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted VI, after which code execution or memory disclosure occurs in that user's LabVIEW context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=0 <=22.3.3
- Affected versionversion=23.0 <=23.3.4
- Affected versionversion=24.0 <=224.3.1
