Application crash via accessibility layout use-after-free
Published Oct 29, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
A layout use-after-free in affected Mozilla Firefox, Firefox ESR, and Thunderbird releases allows attackers to crash the application. TableAwareParentFor reads freed layout-frame memory after PushNameOrDescriptionChange calls LocalAccessible::Name inside an unsafe layout path instead of deferring the notification. The flaw requires accessibility to be enabled and user interaction with attacker-controlled content; the demonstrated consequence is an application crash.
