Administrator authentication hijacking via unvalidated LDAP certificate
Published Mar 19, 2025 · Updated Mar 19, 2025
Improper certificate validation in Synology DSM LDAP utilities allows man-in-the-middle attackers to hijack administrator authentication. When DSM handles LDAP queries, it accepts the LDAP server certificate without proper validation, allowing an attacker-controlled server to impersonate the trusted directory. Exploitation requires interception of the LDAP exchange and an administrator authentication attempt; successful abuse bypasses system authentication with administrator authority.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
