CVE-2024-10361Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary file deletion via avatar path traversal

Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Oct 15, 2025

Path traversal in LibreChat before 0.7.5 allows remote authenticated users to delete arbitrary server files through avatar upload requests. The agent and assistant avatar handlers trust client-supplied metadata, while deleteLocalFile joins its filepath to the uploads root and unlinks it without checking that the resolved path remains in the user's upload directory. A valid account and an avatar replacement request are required; successful traversal can remove application, user, or system files and interrupt service.
