Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Nov 19, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Sonaar Music MP3 Audio Player 5.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode attributes. The sonaar_audioplayer shortcode accepts user-supplied attributes without sufficient input sanitization and emits them into page output without adequate escaping. Contributor-level access is required to store a payload, and the script executes in a visitor's browser whenever the injected page is opened.
