Subscriber-level shortcode execution via unvalidated action input
Published Nov 16, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Code injection in Steve Henty Drop Shadow Boxes 1.7.14 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary WordPress shortcodes. The plugin passes an action-supplied value to do_shortcode without adequately validating which shortcode will run. Subscriber-level access is sufficient; the resulting effects depend on the shortcodes registered by WordPress and other installed plugins.
