CVE-2024-10241Network attack vector

Private channel-name disclosure via unfiltered Elasticsearch results

Published Oct 29, 2024 · Updated Oct 29, 2024

Improper access control in Mattermost 9.5.0 through 9.5.9 allows remote authenticated users to read private channel names via Cmd+K or Ctrl+K. With Elasticsearch enabled, quick channel switching fails to filter indexed channel data according to the requesting user's channel access. An ordinary account can enumerate names of private channels it cannot join, but the published record reports no message-content disclosure or write access.
