CVE-2024-1023Network attack vector

Service interruption via per-connection FastThreadLocal allocation

Published Mar 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 4, 2026

Memory leakage in Eclipse Vert.x 4.4.5 through 4.4.6 and 4.5.0 through 4.5.1 allows remote authenticated users to exhaust JVM memory. CombinerExecutor creates an instance FastThreadLocal for every HTTP-client connection pool, continually increasing Netty's global index and expanding each thread's backing array. Exploitation requires an application that lets a user influence many HTTP-client destination hosts; sustained requests can exhaust memory and interrupt the JVM.
