Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode link
Published Jan 8, 2025 · Updated Jan 8, 2025
Stored XSS in ToolStack Auto iFrame before 2.0 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through the auto-iframe shortcode. The shortcode handler emits the user-controlled link attribute as an iframe URL without validation or output escaping, including data URLs that execute embedded JavaScript. Contributor-level access is sufficient to save a crafted post, and the script runs in the browser of a user who previews or visits that post.
