Authenticated device compromise via rebootTime stack overflow

Published Oct 18, 2024 · Updated Oct 21, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda AC8 16.03.34.06 allows remote authenticated users to corrupt memory via a crafted rebootTime value. The formSetRebootTimer handler passes rebootTime from /goform/SetSysAutoRebbotCfg to FUN_004a8838, where sscanf parses two decimal fields into stack storage without validating the supplied value. Low-privileged access to the router's web interface is required; successful corruption can compromise the device or interrupt routing service.
