Authenticated code execution via unbounded sscanf
Published Oct 18, 2024 · Updated Oct 18, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda AC8 16.03.34.06 allows remote authenticated users to crash the service or execute code. The compare_parentcontrol_time function passes the user-supplied time parameter to sscanf without a length bound, overflowing local_2c and local_4c. Access to the router management interface and an authenticated session are required; exploitation corrupts the return address, crashes the service, or executes code.
