Unauthenticated stored XSS via unescaped adverts_add output
Published Oct 30, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in the adverts_add shortcode in Greg Winiarski WPAdverts 2.1.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject scripts. The shortcode accepts anonymous classified-ad content without sufficient sanitization and later renders stored contact-detail data without context-appropriate output escaping. A site must expose an adverts_add publishing page, and the script runs in a visitor's browser when the injected page is viewed.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
