Subscriber-level API key replacement via unchecked AJAX action
Published Oct 26, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in WPChill Download Monitor 5.0.12 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to replace REST API keys via AJAX. The ajax_handle_api_key_actions function dispatches API-key generation and revocation requests without checking the caller's WordPress capability. Subscriber-level access is sufficient to revoke existing keys and generate replacements, altering the site's API credentials without administrator authority.
