Reflected XSS via inferred HTTP response type
Published Oct 30, 2024 · Updated Jan 10, 2025
Reflected XSS in HashiCorp Consul and Consul Enterprise allows remote attackers to run script in a user's browser via crafted input. The agent HTTP response handler returns user-influenced error text without an explicit Content-Type header, causing Go's net/http package to infer the media type from the body. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted request; the resulting script can disclose or alter data available to that user's Consul session.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
