Hashed-password disclosure via speculative ROP execution

Information disclosure in Linux-PAM before 1.6.0 allows local users to read hashed passwords through speculative execution. In pam_unix password verification, get_account_info loads the shadow entry into the authenticating process instead of always delegating retrieval to the unix_chkpwd helper. A low-privileged local user must drive the victim through standard input and train the branch predictor; RHEL 8 and 9 are not exposed while SELinux is enforcing.
