Root escalation via ghe-firejail symlink-check bypass
Published Nov 7, 2024 · Updated Nov 8, 2024
Arbitrary code execution in GitHub Enterprise Server allows attackers with Enterprise Administrator access to gain SSH root access. The pre-receive hook environment permits a path collision that bypasses symlink checks in the ghe-firejail path and executes malicious scripts. Enterprise Administrator access is required, and successful exploitation compromises the appliance host beyond the hook container.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
