CVE-2024-0997Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Memory corruption via oversized pppoeUser value

Published Jan 29, 2024 · Updated Sep 5, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in TOTOLINK N200RE 9.3.5u.6139_B20201216 allows remote authenticated users to corrupt process memory via pppoeUser. The setOpModeCfg function in /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi fails to constrain the pppoeUser value before it exceeds a stack buffer. Administrative access to the web management interface is required, and the documented consequence is corruption of the CGI process stack.
