Administrative device compromise via oversized index

Published Jan 29, 2024 · Updated Jun 16, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda I6 1.0.0.9(3857) allows remote authenticated users to compromise the device via a crafted index argument. The formwrlSSIDset handler accepts an oversized index value at /goform/wifiSSIDset and writes beyond its stack allocation; the exact copy operation is undisclosed. Administrative web-interface access is required; successful exploitation can expose or alter device data and interrupt the httpd service.
