CVE-2024-0962Public exploit

Code execution via unchecked OSCORE configuration length

Published Jan 27, 2024 · Updated Jun 17, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in libcoap 4.3.4 allows local users to execute code or crash applications via a crafted OSCORE configuration. get_split_entry parses an overlong hex_aster_secret value into a fixed stack destination without enforcing its capacity. Triggering requires an application to pass attacker-controlled configuration bytes to coap_new_oscore_conf; demonstrated consequences include a crash and potential code execution.
