Code execution via unsafe cloudpickle deserialization
Published Jan 26, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2024
Deserialization in van der Schaar Lab TemporAI 0.0.3 allows context-dependent attackers to execute code through a crafted PKL file. The load_from_file function opens the supplied path and passes its contents directly to cloudpickle.load without validating their origin or permitted object types. Exploitation requires a consuming application or user to load an attacker-supplied file, after which code runs with the process's privileges.
