CVE-2024-0921Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated command execution via unsanitized PPPoE username

Published Jan 26, 2024 · Updated Oct 18, 2024

OS command injection in the D-Link DIR-816 A2 Web Interface 1.10CNB04 allows remote attackers to execute commands via a crafted request. The setDeviceSettings handler formats the statuscheckpppoeuser value with sprintf and passes the resulting string to system without neutralizing shell syntax. No user interaction is required, and successful injection runs attacker-supplied shell commands in the router firmware context.
