CVE-2024-0914Network attack vector

RSA plaintext disclosure via variable-time padding checks

Published Jan 31, 2024 · Updated Mar 24, 2026

Timing side channel in openCryptoki before 3.23.0 allows remote attackers to recover RSA plaintext through PKCS#1 v1.5 ciphertext probes. RSA padding processing produces response times that vary with padding correctness and plaintext length instead of rejecting invalid ciphertexts in constant time. Exploitation requires repeated access to an application exposing token-backed RSA operations and sufficiently precise response timing.
