Subscriber-level post creation via missing capability check
Published Apr 23, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in EleSpare 2.1.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to create arbitrary WordPress posts via AJAX. The elespare_create_post() AJAX handler processes post-creation requests without checking whether the caller has an appropriate capability. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and the demonstrated consequence is unauthorized site-content creation rather than broader administrative control.
