Authenticated database disclosure via ancestors SQL injection
Published Jan 25, 2024 · Updated Jun 3, 2025
SQL injection in Octopus 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to read database data through the ancestors field on department edits. The endpoint interpolates the crafted ancestors value through a dollar-placeholder query substitution rather than binding it as data. A valid session with department-edit access is required; the published proof of concept extracts the database account name.
