Contributor data disclosure via user-controlled shortcode keys
Published Apr 9, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Sensitive information exposure in Watu Quiz 3.4.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary WordPress user metadata. The watu-userinfo shortcode accepts an attacker-selected metadata key and user ID, then returns the matching user record without restricting sensitive fields or enforcing self-only access. Contributor access is required to publish the shortcode; exposure includes email addresses and WordPress session tokens, without reported write or availability impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
