Unauthenticated hook execution via missing capability check
Published Mar 26, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Hook injection in Backup For WP Check & Log Email 1.0.9 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute WordPress hook actions. The check_nonce function validates a caller-supplied nonce and dispatches the requested hook without confirming that the caller has the required capability. Exploitation requires a known nonce for an action that lacks its own capability check, and successful requests execute that action with its associated site impact.
