Console process termination via malformed username
Published Mar 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 15, 2024
Denial of service in ASNative.dll in Arcserve Unified Data Protection 8.1 and 9.2 allows remote attackers to terminate the Console process. The validateUserByUser path passes a zero destination size to wcsncpy_s when a fully qualified username begins with a slash, invoking the default invalid-parameter handler. The SOAP endpoint accepts the demonstrated request without authentication or user interaction, and the reported consequence is limited to interruption of Console availability.
