CVE-2024-0787Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated password brute force via spoofed client IP

Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 15, 2024

Authentication-throttling bypass in phpIPAM before 1.7.0 allows remote attackers to brute-force user passwords through spoofed client IPs. The get_user_ip() function in class.Common.php trusts a client-supplied X-Forwarded-For value instead of REMOTE_ADDR, so repeated login attempts appear to originate from new addresses. An exposed login interface and delivery of the untrusted header are required; successful guessing compromises targeted accounts, including an administrator account.
