Unauthenticated DNS interruption via unread TCP responses
Published Jul 23, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Denial of service in ISC BIND 9 9.18.1 through 9.18.27 allows remote attackers to interrupt DNS service over TCP. The TCP request path continues accepting and answering many queries from a client that never reads queued responses, consuming capacity needed by other clients. No authentication or user interaction is required; affected 9.19.0 through 9.19.24 and 9.18.11-S1 through 9.18.27-S1 servers can remain unresponsive until after the flood ends.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
