CVE-2024-0752

Browser crash via updater timeout use-after-free

Published Jan 23, 2024 · Updated Jun 20, 2025

Use-after-free in Firefox before 122 allows attackers to cause an exploitable crash during updates on heavily loaded macOS systems. UpdateDriverSetupMacCommandLine times out while synchronously dispatching to the main thread, leaving a queued runnable holding references to stack-local values that can be accessed after their lifetime ends. Triggering requires an update in progress and enough main-thread delay to fire the timeout; Mozilla describes web-content exploitation as difficult.
