Address-bar spoofing via unchecked document URI update
Published Jan 23, 2024 · Updated Jun 11, 2025
URI spoofing in Mozilla Firefox before 122 allows attackers to place an arbitrary URI in the address bar or browsing history. The SameDocumentNavigation path accepted UpdateDocumentURI messages from a compromised content process without an additional origin check. Exploitation requires user interaction and prior compromise of a sandboxed content process; the bounded result is address-bar or history spoofing.
