Unauthenticated code execution via permissive AMF deserialization
Published Mar 1, 2024 · Updated Apr 16, 2025
Deserialization of untrusted data in SolarWinds Security Event Manager 2023.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code. The streaming AMF endpoint's BlazeDS validator accepts every class name, allowing attacker-controlled objects to reach a C3P0 gadget chain that loads code. No authentication or user interaction is required, but the attacker must reach the appliance on an adjacent network; successful exploitation runs code as the SolarWinds service account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
