Subscriber-level plugin installation via missing capability check
Published Jan 20, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in ThemeGrill ColorMag 3.1.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to install and activate arbitrary plugins. The plugin_action_callback() AJAX handler validates a nonce but does not verify that the caller has the install_plugins capability. Subscriber-level access and the theme nonce are sufficient to add and run plugin code with the site's WordPress privileges.
