CVE-2024-0676Public exploit

Root-password recovery via four-character credential hash

Published Jan 30, 2024 · Updated Oct 17, 2024

Weak password requirements in Lamassu Douro 7.1 allow physically proximate attackers to recover its shared root password from a stored hash. The appliance uses the same four-character root password across devices and stores its hash in /etc/shadow, allowing an offline dictionary attack to crack it in under one minute. Physical access and a low-privilege local foothold are required; successful cracking exposes the common root credential.
