Stored script execution via callback breakout
Published Mar 2, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Averta Master Slider 3.9.9 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through slider callbacks. The callback editor stores JavaScript inside a script block without neutralizing a supplied closing script tag, so crafted input breaks into HTML and event-handler code. Editor-level access is required, and exposure is limited to multisite installations or sites with unfiltered_html disabled; the script runs when a visitor opens a page containing the slider.
