Authenticated code execution via unchecked mac formatting
Published Jan 15, 2024 · Updated Jun 17, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda A15 15.13.07.13 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via a crafted mac parameter. The formSetDeviceName function obtains mac through websGetVar, and set_device_name passes it to sprintf after checking only that it exists, without enforcing a length limit. High-privilege management access is required; a successful request can execute code or interrupt the repeater service.
