CVE-2024-0409

XSELINUX context corruption via mismatched cursor private

Published Jan 18, 2024 · Updated Nov 20, 2025

Type confusion in X.Org Server before 21.1.11 allows local users to corrupt XSELINUX security contexts through an X client. Xephyr and Xwayland register cursor storage as PRIVATE_CURSOR_BITS rather than PRIVATE_CURSOR, so cursor initialization overwrites the XSELINUX private security identifier. Exploitation requires the SELinux xserver_object_manager to be enabled and can crash XSELINUX when the corrupted identifier is reused.
