Cross-site scripting via traversed SVG inclusion
Published Feb 5, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Path traversal in WP Recipe Maker 9.1.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to include server-side SVG files through shortcodes. The WPRM_Icon handler joins the icon attribute to an SVG path without restricting traversal, then embeds the selected file's contents in page output. Contributor-level access is required, and a selected SVG containing script turns the inclusion into cross-site scripting on pages that render the shortcode.
