Account compromise via unenforced signup password strength
Published Jan 9, 2024 · Updated Nov 14, 2024
Weak password enforcement in SourceCodester Engineers Online Portal 1.0 allows remote attackers to create accounts with weak passwords. The signup_teacher.php registration handler accepts the Password parameter without applying adequate password-strength validation. No authentication is required to reach registration; the resulting credentials are easier to guess, exposing newly created engineer accounts to compromise.
